One lake, four kinds of plumbing
The eastern shore from Swansea up through Belmont and Valentine is sand, salt air and a water table that sits close to the surface. Hot water units age faster here, copper pits from the outside in, and absorption trenches that worked thirty years ago now have nowhere to drain.
The western side around Toronto, Bolton Point and Morisset is clay over shale, with older gravity sewer lines and a lot of mature trees. Roots at the joint are the headline problem, and the fix is nearly always relining rather than replacement.
The ridge suburbs like Charlestown and Cardiff sit high and dry on firmer ground, but the housing stock is post war and a lot of it still has original galvanised and earthenware in the ground.
Then there are the newer estates. Different problem entirely: pipework that is only fifteen years old but was laid fast, bedded badly, and is already sagging.

Yes, and it needs a bit more thought. High water tables, sandy backfill and salt in the air all shorten the life of a system that would be fine two streets back. We work on it accordingly.
